Our funeral home is privately-owned by the Newcomer family, who has been in funeral service for five generations. Dove Cremations & Funerals was created to help families celebrate their loved ones in meaningful ways when they choose cremation. Our Southeast Chapel at 29th & Minnesota was built in 1997, and our Southwest Chapel at 37th and Wanamaker was built in 2007.
Built in 1997, our classically-designed Southeast Chapel provides a beautiful, serene atmosphere to gather and honor your loved ones.
Our stately Southwest Chapel was built in 2007 and is graced by the distinctive Angel of the Dawn stained glass window.
The seventeen-foot Angel of the Dawn window was originally constructed in 1951 by the world-famous Judson Studios of Los Angeles, California. Judson also created the original stained glass windows in Topeka’s Grace Episcopal Cathedral and the chapel of the Air Force Academy.
The window was installed in a funeral home and wedding chapel in Lakewood, Colorado. The funeral home was later taken by the city to build a Wal-Mart, and the window was saved from the demolition by Dove's owners, Ren and Theresa Newcomer.
The window was painstakingly disassembled, cleaned and restored by Creations Unique of Topeka while Dove Southwest was being built.
The window weighs over 700 pounds and includes over 1,500 pieces of stained glass.
In 2018, Southeast Chapel was updated to allow families to host receptions before or after services.
