Margaret Fay Coward, 80, of Topeka, passed away February 15, 2017. She was born September 27, 1936, in Shamrock, Texas, to Edward W. and Zeda Mildred (Jones) Campbell.

Margaret attended Shamrock High School and in December of 1954, she married James “Jimmy” Coward, while he was on leave from the Marine Corps. They departed that day for Camp Pendleton, California. While at Camp Pendleton, she gave birth to her first child, Jimmy Raymond, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1992.

Throughout her life she was a God fearing person, influenced by her mother. Margaret never met a stranger in her life. She always had a smile on her face and always had a good word for everyone. She and Jim loved square dancing and for over 26 years they danced in several states where Jim was stationed in the Marine Corps 27 years. Margaret was a dedicated family person who always put family first and herself last.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Harrington of Topeka and Donna Coward of Clearwater, Florida; two granddaughters, Lindsay Campbell and Hannah Harrington; and a great-granddaughter, Annabelle Adolphson, all of Topeka, Kansas.

She is also survived by four brothers, William Campbell, Ed Campbell, Jerry Campbell, and Kenneth Campbell; three sisters, Teresa Biter, Zeda Hooten, and Sue Lee; 15 nieces; and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by one niece, Heather.
